Plato wrote about Atlantis around 360 BC, and ever since, people have argued over where it was. The strongest candidate is right here: the eruption that blew the centre out of Santorini around 1600 BC. The Lost Atlantis Experience in Megalochori puts that argument inside a museum, mixing Greek mythology, geology and Minoan archaeology with 3D projections, holograms and a 9D cinema.
The building is 700 m², purpose-built, with parking right outside. Each experience runs about an hour and takes up to 50 visitors at a time. You can photograph and film anywhere except the 9D cinema room. We add it as an extra stop on our full-day private tours, ask when you book.
