The answer, at a glance

Choose a day cruise if swimming and daylight caldera views are your priority. Choose sunset if you want your evening on the water. Check the exact cruise, pickup and return time before fitting either into your Santorini itinerary.

Is a sunset catamaran cruise better than a day cruise?

Sunset suits an evening on the water. Daytime suits daylight scenery and keeping your evening free. Choose around your schedule and confirm the selected boat’s programme.

How much does a Santorini catamaran cruise cost?

Our listed options start at €100 per person, while the Private Catamaran starts at €800 per boat. Prices and inclusions are confirmed for your date and selected option.

Start with the day you want, not the photograph

A daytime sailing leaves your evening free for a village walk or dinner. A sunset sailing makes the cruise your main evening experience. Both can offer caldera scenery, but the departure time, stops and onboard programme depend on the boat you choose.

Most cruises in our collection last about five hours. That is the sailing duration to plan around; your hotel pickup and return journey add time. Tell us where you are staying so we can confirm the complete schedule before you commit to another activity.

Day and sunset cruises compared

Use this comparison to decide what matters most to your group. A cruise name alone does not tell you everything that is included.

Understand the price before comparing boats

Caldera Panorama starts at €100 per person. Caldera Blue starts at €120, Private Motor Yacht at €140 per person, Caldera Classic at €160 and Caldera Gold at €200. The Private Catamaran starts at €800 per boat. The word ‘private’ and the price unit both matter: read the option description and ask who else will be aboard.

For a couple, the €100 option starts at €200 in total. A private catamaran priced per boat uses a different basis, so multiplying the €800 starting price by each guest would give the wrong comparison. Capacity, your date and the confirmed inclusions still need to be checked. Open the cruise page to select your option and party size.

Ask about the details that change your day

Meals, drinks, dietary arrangements, swimming stops and transfers vary by selected cruise. A caldera sailing is also different from an excursion that lands on the volcano for a walk. If walking on Nea Kameni is your main reason to book, ask explicitly whether your chosen sailing includes that landing.

If you travel with children or have access requirements, describe what you need before booking. Boarding, moving around a boat and entering the sea are separate questions. A private booking does not automatically mean a vessel has step-free boarding or an accessible bathroom.

  • Confirm the boat, group format and passenger capacity.
  • Ask for pickup time, meeting point and expected return.
  • Check meals, drinks and dietary requests for your chosen option.
  • Read the operator’s weather and cancellation terms before payment.

Give the cruise room in your itinerary

Avoid treating a ferry arrival time as a guaranteed start time for a cruise pickup. Disembarkation, the road from Athinios and your hotel check-in all need space in the plan. A full day between arrival and sailing is an easier choice when your stay allows it.

For a sunset cruise, keep dinner arrangements flexible until your return time is confirmed. For a day cruise, arrange your evening transport separately if you want to visit Oia afterwards. Bring sun protection, swimwear and a layer for the return, following the crew’s advice for your sailing.

To request a cruise, select the boat option, day or sunset preference, date and guest count. Add your accommodation and any dietary or access questions. Our team confirms availability and the final details by email before the booking is agreed.
